History of the Comic Strip

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Finally, a history lesson about something FUN. Comic Strips! Come on a fast-paced fun-filled magical journey through time, starting in 1905 and ending in 2015! 110 years of comic strips all in the space of 40 minutes! Stops will be made along the way at critical points in the timeline and major turning points for the medium.

This talk is geared towards anyone who loves comic strips, whether they are classics like Peanuts, Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, or The Far Side, or more recent comics found on the web like Penny Arcade, XKCD, or Hark! A Vagrant!

During this talk, Christopher Hemsworth will be your unflappable guide, reminding you to roll up the windows and hold onto your hats and you blast from decade to decade along a 110 year timeline. Obviously not every single comic strip will be touched on, but many will be and you will possibly be exposed to new material that you didn’t know of before!

Christopher Hemsworth is the artist and creator of the popular webcomic Dear Inner Demons.
