Lenore Zann is a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia representing the electoral district of Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River. Lenore is also an award-winning actor, writer and producer with 33 years of experience in Film, TV, Radio, Animation, and Theatre with a reputation for mentoring a new generation of young artists – for which she received the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Lifetime Award for Service to Community and Country

Recently named as a national spokesperson for the Canadian Association of Mental Illness and Mental Health, Lenore is a passionate speaker known for her unique political views, openness, integrity and frankness on issues ranging from society’s growing financial inequality to cyberbullying, abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

A popular and hard-working politician, she has won two elections – the first in 2009 – and has become become known as a tireless advocate for women’s rights; the creative Industries, and social justice issues including human rights, diversity and discrimination; poverty eradication; education; arts, culture & heritage; and environmental concerns including climate change. She recently introduced a bill, #111 entitled An Act to Address Environmental Racism which has received wide public support.

Lenore is currently running for leader of the Nova Scotia NDP because she feels it is time to champion social democracy unabashedly with a renewed and reinvigorated party dedicated to social democratic values of equality, and social justice for all.
